Weekly Mercy Memo 10.26.16

tA message from our principal,

Mrs. Anne Knapke

Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

It was excitement that we share that we will soon have a new addition to our GMA family!  Mrs. Tara Miller, our McAuley Learning Center teacher, is expecting towards the end of April.  Congratulations, Mrs. Miller!

Thank you, parents and guardians, for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend Parent-Teacher Conferences this week.  We enjoyed meeting with many of our families last night and look forward to our additional conferences tomorrow evening.  Please note that our Scholastic Book Fair is also open to families during Parent-Teacher Conferences.

As a reminder, our school will be closed this Friday through Tuesday. On behalf of the GMA faculty and staff, we wish you a festive and fun Halloween and a blessed All Saints Day.

In Christ's love and mercy,

Anne W. Knapke, M.Ed.

What a great night at GMA's Boots & Bling Auction last weekend! Thanks to team of dedicated volunteers, and the generosity of our families, faculty and friends this was a wonderful evening of community and school spirit.  Special thanks to our auction chair, Rebecca Villano, and decorating chair, Lisa Salamone.  Click here to see a slideshow.

During our Look for the Good Assembly, we welcomed representatives from Lower Gwynedd Township, the police and fire departments, the military and the Sisters of Mercy so that our students could show their gratitude to the members of the greater community that keep them safe, secure and loved.  This was a wonderful celebration of gratitude. Our Look for the Good Gratitude Campaign concluded with a bang as we had Action News come out for our final assembly!

We are pleased to announce that we have hired a new Teacher Aide to assist Mrs. Valeo in KM, to replace Ms. Genaw, who left to pursue another opportunity.   Mrs. Kelly Smith comes to GMA with seven years of education and coaching experience.  She is an alumna of Gwynedd-Mercy University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and her Master of Science Degree in Special Education. Mrs. Smith holds PK-8 certifications in PA and NJ and has most recently been teaching as a Special Education Teacher in a charter school setting.  Mrs. Smith is very excited to be joining GMA where she will once again be part of our Circle of Mercy and is looking forward to being a part of your child's kindergarten experience. Mrs. Smith's first day at GMA will be on Friday, November 4.  We are very thankful for our faculty and staff members who have provided assistance to Mrs. Valeo for the past few weeks.

Watch this video called "You Matter" produced by Ms. Lisa Tierney and our GMA Broadcast Team.  It was shown during our Look for the Good Project Assembly.  You might see someone you recognize.

Sister Gail asked the students to sing the Suscipe, Catherine McAuley's favorite prayer, during the assembly - WATCH - it was a very moving moment.
