Weekly Mercy Memo 12.07.16

A message from our principal, Mrs. Anne Knapke

Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

As we begin this Advent season, we are reminded that the miracle of Christmas is quickly approaching.  At GMA, our school community will be dedicating the month of December to prepare our hearts and minds for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, through prayer, works of Mercy, and celebration.  We have many activities planned, which are noted within our calendar and Mercy Memo.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers, led by Mrs. Young, for helping to make St. Nicholas Day so festive for our students by organizing and assisting with this year's Christmas Market.  It was a delight to see our Bigs and Littles shop together, deciding on the perfect gifts for their family and friends.

Not only was the Christmas Market a wonderful success, our annual Tree Trimming yesterday afternoon truly brought the joy of Christmas to GMA.  Our GMA band began the festivities and was followed by a beautiful, student-led prayer service organized by Ms. Sher. Our prayer service concluded by trimming our GMA Christmas tree with each of our family ornaments while singing out yuletide carols.  Our tree trimming would not have been complete without the surprise appearance of Santa Claus, escorted by our 8th grade elves.  What a magical day at GMA!

Please mark your calendars for next week's Christmas Family Prayer Service on Thursday, December 15 at 7:00 PM.  All GMA families and friends are invited to join together in our circle of Mercy to celebrate and await the coming of Christ.

In Christ's love and mercy,

Anne W. Knapke, M.Ed.

Principal

We love a parade! Our GMA parade participants had a great time last Saturday as we marched in the Ambler Main Street Holiday Parade with our pickup truck dressed up as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  It was a great way to kick of the Christmas season.

All are welcome to join us at the Christmas Family Prayer Service on Thursday, December 15 at 7:00 pm!

The prayer service will feature first grade's "A Great Day in Bethlehem," followed by the 8th Grade Nativity Tableau. Families are invited to bring a gift offering for a child in need.

  • Grades K-3:  An unwrapped toy (if a doll, please pick a doll of color)
  • Grades 4-8:  An unwrapped article of clothing

If you are unable to join us, we ask that you bring your gift to school on or before December 15th.  All gifts will be taken to St. Francis of Assisi and St. Vincent parishes on Friday morning, December 16th.
