Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

Thank you all for helping us celebrate Catholic Schools Week! From the wonderful family photos to the large turnout at our Parents' Open House and Liturgy, we are truly grateful for your commitment and partnership. We are also very thankful to the 8th grade students and their parents for organizing a delicious Broadway-themed faculty luncheon filled with entertainment and cheer. And to think, the week is not over! Check out the events still to come below.

Included in today's Mercy Memo is the sign up information for our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 14, and Thursday, February 16. We received positive feedback on how last trimester's conferences were organized and we will be following the same scheduling procedure. Please be sure to complete the Parent-Teacher Conference Form by Wednesday, February 8, to ensure we have you scheduled.

GMA is looking forward to welcoming award winning children's author, Jacqueline Davies, on Tuesday, March 7. Ms. Davies will be providing four grade-level specific presentations throughout the day, focusing on the writing process and author's purpose. She will also be autographing her books for students who have pre-ordered. Book order information is included in today's Mercy Memo

It's time to sign up for Progress Report Conferences which will be held on February 14 and 16 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A form must be completed for each individual student and conferences are required for grades K-3, but optional for 4-8. In grades 4-8, parents may conference with up to two teachers. The deadline for completing the request forms is February 8th. Students are required to attend with parents.

World Languages Announcement for parents of students in grades K-5: During the week of February 6th, students will switch from French to Spanish classes or vice versa. Please click here to read a letter from the faculty of our World Languages Department.

GMA will celebrate its third annual Mercy Connections Day on Tuesday, February 14, during which time all students will gather in the gym to write Valentine notes and compile gift bags for the people who receive services at our Mercy Connections organizations.

How can we fund this charitable activity? We are asking a $5 donation per child with a $10 maximum per family. Donations should be enclosed in an envelope marked "Mercy Connections" and given to the homeroom teacher by February 10th. Thank you for your support.

Sign up now for GMA faculty camps the weeks of June 12 and June 19. Camps will run Monday to Friday and we are considering offering before- and after-care. Click here to see the creative camp ideas from our faculty!

Author Visit Book Sale

On March 7th, the Parents' Organization will sponsor a series of presentations from award-winning children's author, Jacqueline Davies. Ms. Davies has eleven published children's books to her credit including The Lemonade War series. Autographed copies of Ms. Davies books are available for sale and will be distributed on March 7th. The deadline for ordering an autographed copy is Friday, February 10th. Click here to order.

Free Dress Down Day to Celebrate Our Students during Catholic Schools Week will be Friday, February 3! Wear your red and gold!

GMA Used Uniform Sale will take place during Parent-Teacher Conferences, on 2/14 and 16 from 4:00-8:00 PM! This is a great opportunity to pick up a couple extras or get some laundry-softened shirts. Any questions can be addressed to GMA parent, Kate Moyer.

The grades 2, 3 and 4 Arts Show will take place next week, February 9 and 10, at 1:30 PM. Click here for costume and performance information.

Travis Manion Foundation is coming to GMA! Apply now for the Veteran-Youth Mentor Program. There are two parts to the application; both must be finalized in order for the application to be considered complete.
1. Complete the ViA Character Strengths Survey.
2. Complete the online application.

Mercy Connect

Next date: February 8th! You can still sign up for Mercy Connect, a Math/ELA/Homework Helper Program where girls from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School volunteer to come on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:15 PM to assist children one-on-one or in small groups. Children in Grades 1 through 6 may participate. Click here to learn more about this program!
