Weekly Mercy Memo 03.08.17

A message from our principal, Mrs. Anne Knapke

Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

Thank you, Parents' Org., for sponsoring yesterday's visiting author, Jacqueline Davies!  We cannot say enough as to how informative and interactive she was with each of our student assemblies, and Ms. Davies was very impressed with our students' engagement and participation.  We are very thankful to have been granted this opportunity to learn from such a talented and internationally respected author.

For the remainder of this week, Mr. Santoro and I will be attending the Mercy Education Leadership Forum in Atlanta, GA, along with our Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Sister Mary Anne Basile.  We hope to gain greater insight into our newly formed Mercy Education System of the Americas (MESA) governance structure, as well as to collaborate with fellow Mercy school educators from within the United States, Central America, and South America.  As a Catholic school leader, it is rewarding to be part of this network for Mercy education, which consists of geographically and culturally diverse schools, all sharing one common heritage, mission, and Mercy charism.  Mr. Santoro and I look forward to sharing what we learn at Monday's teacher in-service.

In addition, during our Monday teacher in-service, we look forward to hosting representatives from the Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association who will be leading our faculty through a dyslexia simulation workshop.  We will take part in six simulated activities, mimicking the experiences and processes of those with dyslexia with the goal to better understand this most common reading disability among children.  Thank you, Mrs. Miller, for organizing this meaningful opportunity for our GMA faculty!

In Christ's love and mercy,

Anne W. Knapke, M.Ed.

Principal
