Admissions Process

An overview of the Gwynedd-Mercy Admissions Process is below.  If you have any questions, please contact our Admissions Office at 215-646-4916.

1.  Contact Admissions Office for further information, to request a tour or schedule an appointment.

2.  If you would like to seek enrollment for your child, in an upcoming year, or several years in the future, a Preliminary Application (see below) and accompanying fee of $25.00 should be submitted to the Admissions Office.  This will ensure that we have a record of your interest and that we communicate with you appropriately when the next stage of the process begins.

3.  Beginning in September, for the upcoming school year, the Admissions Director contacts all prospective parents to set up a personal interview.  At the conclusion of the interview, interested parents schedule a pre-enrollment screening test and submit any applicable previous school records to the Admissions Office.

4.  Upon receipt of the required paperwork and testing summary, an applicant can expect to receive a decision notification within 4 to 6 weeks.

PRELIMINARY APPLICATION

Upon inquiry regarding admission to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary, a family receives a Preliminary Application for Admission. After the Preliminary Application is completed and returned to the school with a $25.00 per child non-refundable fee, the child's name is placed on a waiting list for the appropriate grade. Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee availability of a space.

If your child is applying to grade 1 or 2, please include a copy of his or her most recent report card. If your child is applying to grade 3 through grade 8, the following information should accompany the Preliminary Application: a copy of his or her most recent report card, last year's report card, and standardized testing results from the last two years.

To download a copy of the Preliminary Application in pdf (Adobe) format, please click here.

To fill out the Preliminary Application on-line and have the completed form e-mailed to you, to be printed out and mailed to GMA with the accompanying fee, please click here.

INTERVIEW

Parents are contacted for an interview when a space becomes available. The Director of Admissions meets with the parent(s) and the child at the scheduled interview to discuss the school program, curriculum, and pre-admission testing. Families have an opportunity to ask questions and to tour the school at this time.

PRE-ADMISSION TESTING

Pre-admission screening is required before a child is accepted as a student at Gwynedd-Mercy Academy . Testing is administered by Gavin M. Smith, Ph.D., Caren Gutman, M.Ed., or Mark Molyneux, M.A., Certified School Psychologists. When a family is notified that a space is available, an appointment for testing may be made by calling:
