National Junior Honor Society
The society recognizes, acknowledges and encourages high achievement in all academic pursuits, and engenders in students a sense of service. Membership is open to 8th grade students who meet the academic, character and leadership requirements, as well as in-school and out-of-school service activities requirements. To meet the academic criteria, students must have a final grade average of 93 on both their 6th and 7th grade report cards with no grade below an 86 in a major subject and no grade below "G" in an enrichment subject. Negative comments may exclude a student from consideration. These averages are based upon 6th and 7th grade final report card grades. Students must have no fewer than 13 service activities, with at least 7 in-school service credits. The students chosen for membership must maintain the standards for which they were selected.
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) conducted a service project to benefit Saint Francis Inn Ministries from October 26-30. They collected items for eating, hygiene and housekeeping. On November 4th, members of the NJHS loaded a bus with their items and delivered them to the St. Francis Inn. After unloading their donations, the students took a tour of the facilities and found it to be a very rewarding experience. Click here to see some pictures of their visit to the St. Francis Inn.
