Admissions Process

An overview of the Gwynedd-Mercy Admissions Process is below. If you have any questions, please contact our Admissions Office at 215-646-4916.

1. Contact Admissions Office for further information, to request a tour or schedule an appointment.

2. If you would like to seek enrollment for your child, in an upcoming year, or several years in the future, an Application and accompanying fee of $30.00 should be submitted to the Admissions Office. This will ensure that we have a record of your interest and that we communicate with you appropriately when the next stage of the process begins.

3. Beginning in September, for the upcoming school year, the Admissions Director contacts all prospective parents to set up a personal interview. At the conclusion of the interview, interested parents schedule a pre-enrollment screening test and submit any applicable previous school records to the Admissions Office.

4. Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old by September 15th of the enrollment year.

5. Upon receipt of the required paperwork and testing summary, an applicant can expect to receive a decision notification within 4 to 6 weeks.

Process for Kindergarten Applicants

  • Application: Applications to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary can be submitted online or on paper. Once the application is completed and returned to the school the child is entered into the admission process and applicant pool for their respective grade. The family will hear from the Admissions Director after the application has been processed to schedule a school visit.
  • School Visit and Interview: The Admissions Director will meet with the parent(s) and student to discuss the school program, curriculum and Pre-Enrollment Screening. The applying family will have the opportunity to tour the school at this time if they have not already done so. If requested by the parent, the applying student can also spend some time visiting the classroom.
  • Enrollment Screening: An Enrollment Screening is required for all students applying to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary. Caren Gutman, M.Ed. and her associates at Sanctuary Testing Centers administer testing to GMA applicants. If your child has recently taken the WPPSI-IV (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, 4th edition) or WISC-IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, 4th edition), administered by a Certified School Psychologist at another test site the results will be acceptable to be reviewed in our admissions process in place of Sanctuary Testing Center results.
  • Kindergarten Readiness Form: A Kindergarten Readiness form is required for all students applying to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary. This form will be provided to families once the School Visit and Interview has been completed. A current teacher should fill out the form on behalf of your child.
  • Registration: After a child is accepted to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary parents will receive a letter of acceptance, a formal registration form, and, if the child is entering grades 1 to 7, a letter for release of school records. In addition to the registration form, parents are asked to submit a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 which is applied to tuition. Tuition for the 2014-2015 school year is $11,940. Tuition information for the 2015-2016 school year will be released in January 2015.
