Meet Our Head of School

Anne W. Knapke, Head of School

Welcome to Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary!

Thank you for taking the time to explore Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary, a place where students are known, nurtured, and inspired each day. Here, academic excellence is deeply rooted in faith, compassion, and a commitment to service. With a vibrant spirit and a strong sense of purpose, our school blends rigorous academics with Mercy core values to empower students who are not only capable learners but also compassionate leaders.

Founded in 1861 and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy carries forward a proud legacy grounded in Gospel values and a tradition of excellence in Catholic education.

Our school serves boys and girls from PreK through Grade 8, providing an environment where intellectual growth, personal development, and spiritual formation are thoughtfully interwoven. As a three-time recognized National Blue Ribbon School, we are proud of our strong academic outcomes, personalized instruction, innovative programs, and effective integration of technology.

What truly sets Gwynedd-Mercy Academy apart is the extraordinary dedication of our faculty, who bring Mercy values to life each day through their teaching, leadership, and care for every student. Their passion and professionalism create a learning culture in which hospitality, compassion, service, justice, and excellence are not only taught but lived. Our students are continually challenged to think critically, lead confidently, and act with integrity. In partnership with engaged families, our educators ensure that each child is seen, supported, and equipped to thrive.

As part of a global network of Mercy schools and inspired by Catherine McAuley's vision, we share a sacred mission: to prepare students to make a meaningful impact in an ever-changing world through lives of integrity, leadership, and service.

We warmly invite you to visit our campus and experience firsthand what makes Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.

In Mercy,
