CARES Information

Gwynedd Mercy Academy is proud to provide extended services for our students through a Children Are Receiving Extended Services (CARES) Program.  Our CARES program is designed to provide for a safe and secure environment for students while providing afternoon students with a light snack, outside play (when weather permits), homework time, and organized activities. All rules and policies of the school, outlined in the GMA Student-Parent Handbook, apply to CARES. Fees for the CARES program are in addition to tuition.

Registration Form and Emergency Information

  • Morning CARES is available on every school day in session from 7:00-8:00 AM. 
  • Afternoon CARES is available on every full day that school is in session from 3:20-6:00 PM. Afternoon CARES is held in the cafeteria and the adjacent CARES Room. Students are provided a snack at the beginning of our program. They may then begin homework and/or play a game. Outdoor play time is also provided as weather permits. If the gym is not in use, students are taken there for play time in inclement weather. For those days when school dismisses early, after-school CARES will not be available.
  • Parents should pick up children at the cafeteria doors (through walkway and stairs between Gallery and Primary wing). If we are on the playground or gym, parents may pick up there.
  • GMA does have after-school clubs, activities, and sports programs.  Once a child has been dismissed from these after-school activities, they may come to CARES afterwards.  The cost per student that utilizes CARES once an activity is finished will be $10 per day.

  • Weather-related 2-hour delays: Our CARES staff will be available in the Cafeteria beginning at 9:00 AM for REGISTERED STUDENTS ONLY. 
  • On a day with a weather-related early dismissal, your child(ren) will go home per the directions you have specified on your transportation form that is kept in the main school office.
