Library

School Librarian, Mrs. Ashton, is always using her creativity and enthusiasm to promote reading, learning, and critical thinking. Over the last year, school book checkouts increased significantly.

The role of a school library goes way beyond just being a place to borrow books. It plays a vital part in supporting the educational goals of a school and the personal growth of students. Its key roles are:

  • Promoting Literacy & Reading – Encouraging a love of reading by offering a variety of books suited to different interests and reading levels.
  • Supporting the Curriculum  - provides resources (books, digital media, databases) aligned with what students are learning in class.
  • Teaching Research Skills - Guides students in how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically.
  • Encourages Independent Learning - helps students become self-motivated learners by supporting exploration and curiosity.
  • Offers Professional Resource Support - School librarians are trained to help students find resources, develop research strategies, and foster information literacy.
