TerraNova Standardized Testing 2023
Each year, students in grades 2 through 7 are administered the TerraNova Standardized Achievement Tests. In addition, students in grades 3 through 7 are administered the Test of Cognitive Abilities (InView). The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has made the decision to update the TerraNova test for this year, which means that this series of tests will not include Science, Social Studies, and Writing. Except for illness or family emergencies, all students are expected to be present and on time for all scheduled testing days. Students will not be able to make up any standardized testing they miss, so please keep this in mind when planning doctors' appointments or other days out of school.
Parents may assist in the TerraNova testing process by:
- Reminding your children that it is important to take their time during these tests
- Encouraging them to read all directions carefully and recheck all work
- Emphasizing that accuracy is key
- Providing No. 2 pencils and a calculator
These tests are a piece of your child(ren)'s educational picture. The more relaxed students are, the more they are able to achieve their best. Several nights of good rest will serve our students well.
Standardized tests require students to utilize a variety of complex thinking skills and problem-solving strategies that the students must apply each day. These tests provide valuable information for teachers and parents in addressing student needs and a sampling of knowledge/skills students are expected to acquire. Each year, administrators and faculty review the interpretation of both individual and class results to assist in instructional planning.
We appreciate our parents' assistance and partnership in making sure that our students are in school, prepared, and well rested for the testing days. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dean of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Lindsey Rauch.
