Campus Life

In faithfulness to our mission, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy nurtures the whole child through a well-rounded, culturally enriched academic program that enables students to actualize their potential, and prepares them to assume roles of leadership and influence, marked by Mercy values.

Activities fostering leadership are developed through both the Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society. The Student Council sponsors a variety of events which build school spirit and support our outreach programs. The National Junior Honor Society furthers the ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service. Through the Study Buddy Program, members of the National Junior Honor Society are available to assist students with their studies.

Activities at Gwynedd-Mercy Academy also serve to enhance our commitment to excellence. Participation in various academic and campus life activities serves to highlight and extend the solid academic offerings that are given. The GMA Today Broadcast Team, Mercy Outreach, the GMA Athletic Program and numerous others, promote academic involvement within and beyond the school. GMA also sponsors Mathletes and Reading Olympics teams.

Music, creative movement, art, and public speaking classes are part of the total curriculum, and private piano, instrumental music, dance and voice lessons are also available. Skills acquired through these sessions are showcased at both winter and spring recitals. Throughout the school year, all grades are given the opportunity to participate in at least one major performance including Kindergarten Graduation, the First Grade Christmas Pageant, the Winter and Spring Fine Arts Programs for grades 1-6 and and the annual theater-quality show for grades 7-8.

As a member of the Catholic Academy League, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy offers a wide array of after-school sports programs for students interested in extra-curricular athletics. Boys and girls in K-8 may participate in Cross Country and Track. In grades 5-8, Varsity and JV sports include soccer, field hockey, basketball, swimming, cheerleading, lacrosse, baseball and softball. The GMA athletic program gives students a chance to learn to work as part of a team, encourages physical well-being and develops the value of good sportsmanship.
