A message from our principal, Mrs. Anne Knapke
Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,
May is always a busy month, and this year is no exception. We have had a number of events showcasing our students' talents over the past few weeks. In addition to our Arts Festival; our choir's performance at the Philadelphia Souls' game; and our dance, voice, and piano recitals; we celebrated our athletes today at our end-of-year GMA Athletic Awards Assembly. During the assembly, we remembered two special members of the GMA community who recently passed. Not only did we rename the Girls Catholic Academy League Award the Maria McHugh Award, we also inducted Mrs. McHugh into the James McHugh Hall of Fame for her long-time dedication to the Gwynedd-Mercy athletic programs at the elementary, high school, and college levels. In addition, we recognized Mr. Tom Johnson during the sports slideshow for his devotion to our athletes during his many years of service to GMA.
As the number of Mercy religious decline throughout the Mercy Education System of the Americas (MESA), we turn to Mercy lay leaders to support the Sisters of Mercy's mission of education and service. In this spirit, we are blessed to have two new Mercy Associates within our school community. Mrs. Linda Reeves, First Grade Teacher, and Mrs. Bethanne Connolly, Director of Admissions and High School Placement, recently became Mercy Associates after a year of study and discernment. Congratulations, Mrs. Reeves and Mrs. Connolly!

We have had quite a celebration of our students' arts achievements over the last ten days, including last week's Arts Festival and this week's Voice and Choir and Piano Recitals.

Last Saturday, members of the Senior and Junior Choirs were invited to sing the National Anthem during the Philadelphia Soul game at the Wells Fargo Center!
It was an amazing experience for these students - watch them on the big field.
Host Families Wanted: We need a few school families to extend the hand of Mercy hospitality to new families beginning this summer and into the fall. Contact Mrs. Bethanne Connolly in the Admissions office to volunteer.

Thanks to the good sports who took on the wet weather during our first annual golf outing this week. Our golfers included dads (no moms this time around), faculty, members of our Board of Trustees and friends who joined us at Old York Road Country Club. Congratulations to the winning foursome - Dave Cawley, Josh Goldstein, Joe Morrissey and Jeff Theisen.

The deadline to sign up for GMA faculty camps is this week. Camps will run Monday to Friday the weeks of June 12 and 19 and include sports, academic enrichment, Jumpstart into Kindergarten, and many other fun activities. Watch this summer camp commercial produced by the GMA Broadcast Team.
