GMA Mercy Memo 11.08.17

A message from our principal, Mrs. Anne Knapke

Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Santoro, Mrs. Rauch, and I were honored to accept on behalf of the entire GMA community, the 2017 National Blue Ribbon School Award as one of the select schools with the distinction as an Exemplary High Performing School.  We were pleased that through live video streaming, our classrooms were able to take part in the Washington, DC festivities from Spring House, PA. This award truly validates the commitment, hard work, and dedication of our faculty, staff, students, and families; and we look forward to continuing our celebration of this recognition throughout the coming months.

This Friday, November 10, our student body will be honoring Veteran's Day by participating in various activities throughout the school. Our kindergarten through 5th grade students will be taking part in a variety of classroom activities that showcase the importance of honoring our veterans for their heroism and selflessness.  Our 6th through 8th grade students will have the privilege of meeting and listening to Marine Major Joey Fay, who is currently serving as a reservist based out of Fort Dix, NJ.  Major Fay's active service included deployment to Iraq and numerous awards and recognitions.  We are excited to continue our partnership with Major Fay who served as our Travis Manion Foundation ambassador last school year.

In addition to our Veteran's Day activities, we have two community events quickly approaching.  We hope all parents and guardians plan on attending our Classroom Open House for Parents this Monday, November 13, from 8:30 to 10:30 AM.  Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to visit classrooms and witness teaching and learning in action.  Following classroom visitations, we hope everyone will stay to enjoy breakfast treats prepared as gratitude by our faculty and staff.  Following our Parent Open House, we welcome all grandparents and special friends to GMA on  Tuesday, November 21, to provide our students the opportunity to display their GMA pride as well as their gratitude for the special loved ones in their lives.  Detailed information will be forthcoming.

In Christ's love and mercy,

Anne W. Knapke, M.Ed.

Principal
