GMA Mercy Memo 01.03.18

Dear Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Family and Friends,

Happy New Year!  During this time of year in which we look back to what was and look ahead to the future, it is important to reflect on all of which we are thankful.  On behalf of the GMA community, I would like to express our gratitude for you, our family and friends, who support our school and mission through your time, talent, and treasure.  We are so grateful for your partnership with us.

The next several weeks are full of activities to build school spirit and showcase our school programs.  Please mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

  • This Saturday, January 6, we will be hosting a set of quad basketball games against Waldron Mercy Academy beginning at 9:00 AM.  Please come out to support our Mustang basketball teams and cheerleading squad. Fun will be had by all!
  • Monday, January 15, school will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and teachers will be participating in a Day of Service. Led by Krissy Gonnella of the Mercy Connections team, plans have been made for a stewardship opportunity for our families as well. Sign up information can be found below in this Mercy Memo.
  • Friday, January 26, our Parents' Organization will be hosting Trivia Night for GMA school community adults. In its 3rd year, this has become a parent/faculty favorite as we come together for fun and fellowship.
  • National Catholic Schools Week begins Sunday, January 28. Events specific to the students will be forthcoming, but we would like to point out two activities to mark in your calendars: Catholic Schools Week Liturgy on Tuesday, January 30 at 9:45 AM, and a Prospective Families Open House in conjunction with our STEM Night/Curriculum Showcase for all families on Thursday, February 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

In Christ's love and mercy,

Anne W. Knapke, M.Ed.

GMA Financial Aid Applications Due January 17

If you currently receive financial aid and/or if you are interested in applying for financial aid for the 2018-2019 school year, the deadline for applying is Wednesday, January 17.

All families who would like to be considered for financial aid must submit an application through School & Student Services (SSS). You must provide supporting documentation (including most recent tax returns) directly to SSS.

This deadline will allow the financial aid committee to meet prior to the re-enrollment period. Therefore, your family will have a firm commitment from GMA regarding what assistance is available prior to making your re-enrollment deposit. We ask that you please begin this process immediately. Click here for more information and to fill out the financial aid paperwork.

Teachers and even our school nurse are alarmed by the students coming to school without coats. We know that many students just take a short dash from the front door to a heated car, but we have had episodes of students' arriving cold and shivering. Please be sure your children are appropriately dressed for the weather.

Come enjoy a night of fun and games on Friday, January 26th at GMA. Who will claim the title of GMA trivia winner this year? Will faculty bring their A-Game again? Be there!! Tickets are now available for purchase for $25 per person. Participants will bring their own food and alcoholic beverages, while a professional trivia master leads us through a night of fun competition. Brush up on your 80's music and your WWII historical facts now. Join the fun!

Lunch/Recess Duty Volunteers are needed for Kindergarten and 1st Grade!

Parent volunteers who can be available between the hours of 12:00 and 1:00 PM are urged to volunteer for cafeteria and recess duty. Click here to volunteer and contact Coordinator, Grace Hrlic with any questions.
