High School Placement

In a testament to GMA's academic excellence, traditionally nearly 100% of our graduates are accepted into prestigious private high schools. Over the last 5 years, 18% of our 8th grade graduates have been awarded academic scholarships.

The high school placement process begins in 6th grade, when Gwynedd-Mercy Academy sponsors a high school information night for our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and their parents. Admissions representatives from area private Catholic high schools make presentations and distribute application packages. In the fall of 8th grade, as the application process begins, students take a test-taking skills class and GMA staff work with families to ensure that all transcripts and letters of recommendation are submitted to prospective high schools in a timely fashion.

Pictured above are nine of the members of the Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Class of 2017 who were awarded a total of thirteen scholarships to area high schools.

This year, our 53 students have earned acceptance to quite a number of prestigious high schools throughout the greater Philadelphia area, including Bishop McDevitt High School, Germantown Academy, Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, Holy Ghost Preparatory School, Lansdale Catholic High School, Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, St. Joseph's Preparatory School, The Haverford School, Villa Joseph Marie High School, and William Penn Charter School. In addition to acceptance in these fine institutions, we are very proud to share that our eighth grade class has secured nearly $500,000 in scholarship awards. We are so proud of our future graduates and look forward to learning of their future successes in high school, college, and beyond!
