Responsibilities:

  • Homeroom teacher for a 6th grade classroom
  • Religion teacher for 6th grade classroom
  • Math teacher for grades 4-8

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an education related field
  • Pennsylvania Mathematics Teaching Certification
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Learning Support Teacher - Part-time

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy is seeking a creative and talented part-time Learning Support Teacher to serve in the McAuley Learning Center, a growing learning support program that was designed in 2015 to foster the Mercy mission and enhance the school-based programming of students identified with learning differences.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education
  • Pennsylvania State Teaching Certification
  • Reading Specialist certification or knowledge and training in a research-based reading intervention program such as Wilson or Orton-Gillingham

This position will require 2-3 days per week with a defined 10-month work schedule which would mirror our school year (September to June). The position will report to the Business Officer and will perform a variety of duties within the business office. The Business Office is responsible for handling all the Financial and Human Resource needs of the Academy.

Specific job responsibilities will include:

  • Journal entry transactions
  • Accounts payable transactions, including the receipt of invoices and the distribution and mailing of payments
  • Accounts receivable transactions, including the receipt of payments and preparation of bank deposits
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Provide supporting budget analysis
  • Internal account reconciliations, including but not limited to Annual Giving, credit card transactions, and student billing accounts
  • Assist in the benefit election data collection and entry
  • Assist in the annual audit systems check
  • Manage state-mandated employee clearances
  • File paperwork, prepare and reply to e-mails, and manage internal petty cash

The Business Office manages an annual budget of approximately $5.5M in a fast paced, dynamic, and transaction-oriented environment. We would like to hire a hard- working, detail-oriented team player with prior experience as an accountant or bookkeeper.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An accounting or business degree and/or 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud's Financial Edge (ideal but not necessary)
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and an understanding of Google Docs
  • An eagerness to learn and be adaptable to change
  • A team/community mindset
  • The ability to solve problems and work independently
  • An outstanding work ethic

K-8 Librarian/Media Specialist

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy is seeking an energetic K-8 Librarian/Media Specialist to foster an environment of creativity, innovation, and openness to new ideas. In addition to maintaining a rich, K-8 library collection of print and digital resources, the Librarian/Media Specialist will transform the library space into an inviting, flexible, responsive media space for learning with tools and resources that support a design-thinking mindset and an innovative curriculum. In addition, the Librarian/Media Specialist will collaborate with teachers to support student inquiry and foster 21st century instruction.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate:

  • will teach information-seeking, critical analysis of sources, citation methods, synthesis, and the ethical use of information
  • has a strong knowledge of children's literature
  • will continuously evaluate the library collection, and work to optimize the catalog to support the school-wide curriculum and encourage student recreational reading
  • will develop and implement programs that teach students skills to conduct research and prepare research papers
  • is a facilitator of knowledge and resources for students, faculty, and staff
  • utilizes the library as a space to create STEAM-focused projects
  • possesses a “maker” mindset focused on creating opportunities for students to imagine, create and play while learning
  • is highly flexible and responsive to student interests and needs
  • provides platforms for students to showcase their work
  • is a consistent collaborator with faculty and outside resources
  • has experience with and encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students and infuse 21st century learning skills

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Library and/or Information Science
  • PA teaching and library certificates
  • Three years of experience as a library specialist in a public or private school
  • Management and operational experience in directing a school library
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of library science as it relates to K-8 curriculum
  • Knowledge of technological skills and applications associated with library science
  • Innovative, creative and flexible management style
  • Management of a library and media center budget
  • Excellent communication skills
  • History of collaboration with teachers and administration
  • Experience in modern library design a plus
